Jeremy Kane was a Marine Reservist and Cherry Hill resident enrolled at Rutgers-Camden University when he was killed in live action on January 23, 2010 while serving in Afghanistan.
  • Every year the South Jersey community gathers for a 5K run/walk (whatever you prefer) to honor Jeremy's sacrifice.

  • "Registration fees and sponsorships benefit the Jeremy Kane Scholarship Fund" which presently has over $80,000.00 in the fund at Rutgers-Camden which will honor Jeremy's memory.

Jeremy's run is a great place to meet new friends, and re-connect with old ones. The Student Veterans at Rutgers University (SV@RU) cordially invite you to join us for food, fun and a morning you will never forget.

"I am....amazed, overwhelmed, proud. It is incredible what is being planned. I can only imagine Jeremy having a huge grin on his face seeing what is being done in his memory. Thank you SO much. I guess I better start getting in shape! Is there a boot camp for moms?"

-Melinda Kane

"Hi my name is Cpl. O'Sullivan I was injured next to Lcpl. Kane on January 23 and would love to participate in this event.  I will be bringing Lcpl Miller and Hoey who were also injured on that day but Hoey will not be able to run because of his injuries.  In addition I will be bringing Sgt. Richards who spoke at Kane's funeral."

-George J. O'Sullivan USMC

"Hi. My name is Jesse Necaise (pronounced 'knee-case') and i live on the gulf coast of Mississippi and i went to infantry school with Kane in 2007. He stood across from me for those two months, and never failed to make me and EVERYONE else laugh each and every day. When I learned of his death, it hit me hard because he was my friend. I did not know him as long as you may have, but he touched my life and i am a better man for it. I just wanted to say that I think it's an AMAZING thing you are doing with his memory. I know he would be proud to call you and everyone else who took place in the run his friend. Thank you for your time."

-Jesse Necaise USMC

"The other thing I remember most is something Rabbi Schwartz said; Jeremy did the right thing when no one was looking. The world could live off of these words."

-Lawrence J. Steffen US ARMY
